Our new Austin-based Flight Ops team got out of town this weekend and hit the rocks. They received an invite from local technical climber Taylor Popp to bring an IRIS out to get some footage at Seismic Falls, a remote and well-loved local climbing hangout tucked into a valley creekbed in Austin’s Greenbelt. For shooting this sequence, Taylor chose the road less traveled: A high-difficulty, overhung route with lots of exposure, which basically means that if you fall you’re making fast friends with some rocks. Our team, Brad and Anton, slapped a GoPro Hero3 onto the IRIS and flew as a two-man crew with video downlink. They only had one take to reel in this footage. Looks like they nailed it. What do you think, guys — beginner’s luck? Doubtful!
