When it Comes to Researching Primate Habitats, Conservation Drones doesn’t Monkey Around

Dr. Lian Pin Koh and Dr. Serge Wich, co-founding directors of conservationdrones.org, recently returned from a trip to Sumatra where they used a 3DR Y6 to map out a small botanical plot in the rainforest. Their goal was to identify tree species and ascertain the availability of food for primates living in the forest. While they are still parsing data, their mission was an unqualified success.

This research program was made possible through a partnership between conservationdrones.org and the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Program.

Check out the video below for a drone’s eye view of the rainforest.
