Several causes can lead to this behavior, please check the following points:

  •  Have you verified that the Pixhawk drivers are correctly installed?

If the driver failed to install correctly when the Pixhawk was first plugged in or you received the message “Error: No response from board” when uploading follow these instructions which may resolve the problem.

      1. Backup the Mission Planner’s logs directory if there are dataflash or tlogs from earlier flights you would like to keep.  Normally the logs directory can be found in “C:\Program Files (x86)\APM Planner\logs” or “C:\Program Files (x86)\Mission Planner\logs”.
  1. Uninstall the Mission Planner using the “Uninstall Mission Planner” application which can normally be found in your Start menu >> All Programs >> Mission Planner (or APM Planner).
  2. Open a file explorer and delete the “C:\Program Files (x86)\Mission Planner” or “C:\Program Files (x86)\APM Planner” directories if they exist
  3. Uninstall the Pixhawk driver:
  4. Open the Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> Control Panel >> Devices and Printers
  5. while the Pixhawk is still plugged in right-mouse-button click on the PX4 FMU device and select Properties, the select the Hardware tab and select Properties
  6. On the General tab select Change Settings, on the Driver tab select Uninstall
  7. On the Confirm Device Uinstall window click the “Delete the driver software for this device” and press “OK”
  8. Re-install the mission planner  from the   latest MSI. This should install the latest mission planner and also automatically reinstall the latest Pixhawk drivers onto your computer.

  • Verify that you have a firmware on your Pixhawk board.
  • Don’t forget to set the correct COM port and set the baud rate at 115200 (for MicroUSB connections) or 57600 (for 3DR Radio connections).
  • Sometimes USB ports are lacking power for the Pixhawk and addons because of this the board may not connect to MAVLink, if you want to make configurations on the Pixhawk but don’t want to remove any of the extra components please try using a dualsource (Power Module + USB port).
  • Try using several USB ports, microUSB cables or even using another computer.
  • Try updating Mission Planner to the latest release, you can do this by opening Mission Planner then going to the HELP tab and on the bottom you will find “Check for Updates”, be sure to click it and update it.
  • The Pixhawk won’t start without a working micro SD Card, try formatting the SD Card or even using another one so MAVLink allows you to connect.
